How does the PrimaFlex model work?

1. Choose an initial point of contact on a case-by-case basis

Are you ill or do you have a medical question? Choose one of four first points of contact.

Pharmacy (free)
Thanks to PrimaFlex, you have free access to a range of exclusive services with our partner pharmacies, whenever the pharmacist considers it necessary:

advice sessions, without an appointment, during opening hours, for common health problems such as stomach aches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea, urinary tract infections, or the risk of diabetes or cardiovascular disease. These consultations can even lead to the delivery of medicines such as antibiotics, usually on prescription.
examinations to detect a risk of diabetes or cardiovascular disease
in-depth interviews with targeted diagnostic tests (e.g. ear tests).

Telemedecine (free)
Are you unable (or unwilling) to travel? You can contact our telemedicine partner. 130 healthcare professionals will answer your medical questions and advise you on any health problems you may have.

This first point of contact offers obvious advantages:

A team available 24/7 on 0800 852 852. Calls are free and no appointment is necessary, whether you're at home or on the move.
Consultations are available in French, German, Italian and English.
In some cases, you can receive a prescription or a certificate of incapacity for work without having to see your doctor.

Ada symptom checker (free from your Customer Area)
From the comfort of your own home, log into your Customer Area to assess your symptoms using the Ada symptom checker.

Based on artificial intelligence and created by doctors, Ada lets you make an initial assessment of your symptoms. In just a few minutes, answer Ada's questions and find out about any possible illnesses. Ada will then send you recommendations for the next steps of your treatment.

Family doctor
Go directly to the family doctor you have indicated to us. The doctor's name will be indicated in your Customer Area, under the heading “Contracts”, and you will be able to update it easily, if needed.

If you haven't already done so, please let us know who your family doctor is (in your Customer Area or by phone/mail).

A solution for every situation

Here are a few concrete examples of how the PrimaFlex model can be used

Marc, aged 49, has a sore throat.

First point of contact
Marc is very busy at work and prefers to go quickly to the chemist for advice rather than to the doctor. He can easily plan his visit between business appointments.

Treatment
The pharmacist advises Marc to have a strep test, which is free of charge thanks to PrimaFlex. The result is positive, and Marc is given an antibiotic. Marc saves time and money by avoiding a medical consultation. If he wishes to be reimbursed, he can obtain a prescription by calling the telemedicine partner free of charge.

Cécile, aged 4,has a cough and a rising temperature.

First point of contact
As it is Saturday evening, Cécile's parents take advantage of the 24-hour telemedicine service and call 0800 852 852 for free medical advice.

Treatment
The Medgate nurse gives them professional medical advice. She suspects a virus and prescribes a list of medicines. The prescription is sent directly to the pharmacy of their choice. Cécile's parents are pleased that they don't have to go to the emergency department and can pick up their daughter's medication directly from the pharmacy.

Nina, aged 19,has a rash on her back.

First point of contact
Nina is worried. She quickly opens the Ada symptom checker, available 24/7 in her Customer Area, and describes where she has redness and itching.

Treatment
The Ada symptom checker asks her a few quick questions, adapted to her answers. Nina discovers a list of possible medical conditions. The most likely cause could be a sun allergy that can be treated at home. Ada recommends applying an ointment to relieve the itching. Nina is reassured.

Carla, aged 35,has a number of health problems and has to make frequent visits to the doctor.

First point of contact
Carla had been feeling exhausted for several weeks. She makes an appointment with her long-standing family doctor, with whom she has a relationship of trust.

Treatment
Carla's doctor is aware of her situation and quickly identifies the cause of her symptoms. He adapts her medication and refers her to a specialist.

Conditions that are easy to follow

1. In the event of a medical problem or question, you must always first consult one of four possible first points of contact: a partner pharmacy, our telemedicine partner, the Ada symptom checker or your family doctor.
2. If you choose the family doctor option, please tell us who your family doctor is (in your Customer Area or by telephone/mail), if you have not already done so.
3. In emergencies and certain other situations, you do not need to comply with the requirements of your model. You can find more information in the section “How does the PrimaFlex model work” above.

It may happen that the conditions of the model are accidentally not followed. In this case, we will notify you by letter and will be happy to offer our assistance.

However, if you repeatedly fail to comply with the rules, we will have to transfer you to the Standard basic insurance model. You will then lose your premium reduction, but you will benefit from free choice of doctor, with no conditions to be met.
