From 1 January 2025, persons insured with OptiMed will be able to choose our Medgate telemedicine partner as their remote family doctor.

Deductible-free remote medical consultations with OptiMed

By choosing Medgate as your family doctor, you will have access to a team of dedicated doctors who can be reached 24/7 by telephone on 0800 963 963. In the event of a health problem, you call them first and follow their recommendations on the steps you need to take to receive treatment. Telephone or video consultations are invoiced in the same way as a standard medical consultation (Tarmed point) but are exempt from the deductible thanks to Groupe Mutuel's OptiMed model. For example, if a teleconsultation costs CHF 60, you will only have to pay CHF 6 (i.e. 10% co-insurance).

Why choose Medgate as your family doctor?

Anyone can choose Medgate, but this option is particularly interesting if:

  • You have difficulty finding a family doctor who accepts new patients and who is on one of the OptiMed lists.
  • You can no longer be followed by your current family doctor (for example, if this doctor is retiring).
  • You would like to be able to contact a doctor easily for medical questions without having to leave your home.
  • You suffer from one of the following chronic illnesses: coronary heart disease, chronic heart failure, dyslipidaemia (abnormally high cholesterol levels) or high blood pressure. Medgate has developed specific follow-up services for these chronic diseases, which will be offered exclusively to insured persons who choose a remote family doctor.

What's more, by choosing a remote family doctor, you will benefit from personalised care, thanks in particular to an initial questionnaire that you complete when you sign up. The quality of care received will also be regularly monitored by means of questionnaires on your state of health and customer satisfaction.

  • Facilitated access to the Medgate Partner Network of over 3,500 healthcare professionals (GPs, specialists and others) who agree to take on new patients within a reasonable timeframe, when referred by Medgate.
  • Dedicated medical follow-up for patients with chronic illnesses, including access to educational material for specific illnesses.
  • If necessary, the possibility of carrying out specific medical examinations or laboratory tests in collaboration with Medgate and a partner pharmacy.  
  • Access to the Medgate app, making it possible to quickly book an appointment for a medical consultation, send photos/videos/audio recordings for the assessment of symptoms, receive your medical certificates and prescriptions or view your treatment plan.   • Possibility to use Medgate's “BetterDoc” service that will recommend the best healthcare specialists, whether for specific complaints (e.g. back or joint pain) or serious illnesses. Taking into account your needs and the available data, BetterDoc identifies the most suitable experts for effective treatment or independent medical advice.
